Antique Japanese Oribe ware bowl.  Looks to be quite early to our inexpert eye, but we do not know the precise age.  A large amount of thick drippy glaze in both the interior and exterior, in a variety of blue and green hues, turquoise, etc.  Also a wild array of brown/gray/black brushed decoration.  Signed on the sidewall, just above the foot rim.  When you run your hand along the outside of the vessel you can feel the evidence of hand coiling of the pottery.
Size:  7 1/4 inches in diameter and 3 inches high.
Condition:  Please note the deep burgundy red wax on the bottom of the interior and exterior.  While part of the wax on the interior has chipped away to reveal no damage beneath it, we are selling the piece under the assumption that there is a flaw that was addressed, such as a hole.  The wax looks to have been applied ages ago, so we will leave it as it is.  ***You are bidding/buying in acceptance of this as a potential condition matter.  There is scattered glaze crazing throughout, and a tight vertical line that runs down about 1 1/2 inches from the rim, and we cannot tell if it is a line in the glaze only or in the clay body, as well.
SHIPS AT: 3 pound rate via USPS Priority Mail – insured.  We pack extremely well and we cover the cost of insurance.
